15. Is there a ninth planet in the solar system? (hint, it's not Pluto)
Updated: Oct 1, 2021
Planet Nine, also known as Planet X is a hypothetical planet that is thought to orbit the sun far beyond Pluto.
The further you get from stars, the more the planet freezes. This is because the sun produces light and energy - check out the youtube video I made that explains how the sun makes light and heat.
Space is really dark and cold, especially when you are further away from the sun or other stars.
Now, let's talk about the size of this ninth planet in the solar system. It is thought to be roughly 10 times the mass of our beautiful planet, Earth. This would make it the 6th largest thing in the solar system. It is estimated that the radius of Planet Nine is 2-4 times bigger than the radius of our planet.
Just a reminder that this mysterious planet Nine is NOT pluto. If you don't believe me you can look at my blog on Pluto .
How far is away is this hypothetical planet? Scientists have estimated that its current distance from the sun is 600 astronomical units (an astronomical unit is the distance between the earth and the sun)!
That would make the time of Planet Nine orbiting the sun between 10,000 to 20,000 years for this planet to fully orbit. If this planet was habitable, you wouldn't make it to your first birthday, you would already be dead in way less than a sixteenth of a year.
Now we will talk about the numbers of moons/rings. The answer is we don't know.
It could have 100,000,000,000,000 rings and moons or it could not have any at all! That's a huge number (one quadrillion).
Hope you like learning about the planets and I hope this is your favorite one besides earth!

It is very interesting to read about it. How many people can live there and how long can they stay? Are there any pictures of people doing "space walks" from it?
