9. Uranus
Updated: Oct 1, 2021
Uranus is nearly four times larger than earth. This means Uranus can fit nearly 5 earths inside it.
Uranus is known as the sideways planet because it rotates sideways on. Imagine being on the south pole of Uranus, it would be VERY VERY VERY cold! Summer would be cold too! If this was on earth it would make it snow every day, and in summer too!
Uranus was discovered in 1781 by William Herschel and was the first planet found using a telescope.
Uranus is the 7th planet from the sun and the first Ice giant in the whole solar system!
For a while, scientists thought Uranus was peaceful and calm. but, then in 2005 they discovered and giant storm the size of the united states!
Unlike the other planets, Uranus’s core is REALLY cold. But all the other planets (except Neptune) have REALLY hot cores!
Thanks for reading about Uranus!

Daddy and I visited William Herschell's house in Bath, England . We saw where he worked and a model of his telescope. It is interesting to hear that the planet spins on its side
