14. the outer solar system
Updated: Oct 1, 2021
The outer solar system is the part where the biggest planet is found (Jupiter). Jupiter is the 1st planet in the outer solar system.
The outer solar system planets are sometimes referred as the ringed planets, the gas planets, the planets furthest from the sun, the cold 🥶 planets, the big planets and the outer planets.
Gas giants, which are in the outer solar system, are made up of mostly gases like hydrogen and helium which is the same thing the sun is made of. These gas planets are Jupiter, Saturn Uranus, Neptune and people who eat way too much Christmas dinner. However, Planet-X, the hypothetical planet orbiting the sun beyond the Oort cloud, could be the next gas giant to be discovered. Or, it could just be a giant cloud of gas in dark space.
The problem with exploring the gas planets with humans in a spaceship is that they are so far away. It would take between 1 and 8 years to get to Jupiter depending on how close to Earth it is on its orbit of the sun. The other problem is that if you set foot on any gas planet you wall fall straight through because it is not solid. Plus, you would be crushed to death by the gravity. Deadly.
It is hard to imagine how big the distances are and how spread out all the objects are
Some knitting, lots of games, and heaps of movies and music.
Definitely no matches, don't want to blow up Jupiter. Although the explosion may get me back to earth quicker :-)
I don't know.
What would you bring with you to keep you busy on a trip to Jupiter?
